About: In this class you will
-Throw or hand-build pieces which will be bisqued, glazed and raku fired to a temperature of 1,000ª
- Make and label 3-4 test tiles (we suggest small pinch pots)
-Mix and test low-fire glazes (raku)-
Each student will add a stain or oxide of their choice to the base glaze and test fire it (in the raku kiln)
-View and discuss test tiles and raku glazed objects
-Develop an understanding of glaze application and how to achieve special effects that capitalise on the process.
-Participate in up to 3 firings by actively engaging in the process
Please note: Students must wear covered-in-toe footwear and long sleeved shirt and wear a mask to protect from smoke for firing sessions
Please bring food for a shared supper
Clean up times are within the hours allocated for class time
If a workshop is unable to go ahead on the planned date we will reschedule these events to a later date. Refunds will only be possible if no suitable alternative date can be found
