Ceramic Artist in Residence Programme

The Auckland Studio Potters (ASP) Artist Residency is open to professional artists and craft-persons working in ceramics.

There are 2 spaces available and the length of each residency is for a minimum of 1 month or a maximum of 3 months. Longer residencies can be applied for but are at the discretion of the ASP Directors and Committee.

The object of the artist in residency programme is to provide time and space for the artist/craft-person to develop a new project or body of work in ceramics. The residency is also intended to connect the artist/craft-person with the ceramic community at ASP and to share their expertise by example through their practice.

The residencies are offered to professional ceramic and craft-persons and participants must be 21 years of age or older. They are expected to have an accomplished level of expertise with good technical abilities, preferably with a Diploma or Degree in Ceramic Art or equivalent. The artist shall work from a studio pod and have access to the centre’s facilities during opening hours (please refer to website) and in accordance with the centre’s guidelines. Each pod is equipped with an electric wheel, storage space, workbench and chair and heating.

Selection:

Artists/craft-persons fill in our application and will be selected by the ASP Directors and the ASP Committee. They will evaluate the applicant’s artistic qualities, proven studio and material competency, resume, portfolio, letter of intent and professional references.
