We have two short films for your viewing pleasure – each is about 20 minutes or so long.
The first one is a film about three US potters: Warren MacKenzie, Jeff Oestrich and Clary Illian. Each talk about their different ‘takes’ on the studio pottery movement in the USA, with a reference to the impact Bernard Leach had when he visited the States. Their approaches are varied and they each talk about the influences on their work.
The second film is focused on Jean Nicholas Gerard, a slipware potter in France. It interviews him in his studio, his style of work and how he creates his work. He speaks of his connection with his work and his garden and how the garden, life and his pottery are intertwined.
ASP is hoping to bring him out at the end of this year/beginning of next.
The intent of the films is to educate (tell you/show something you maybe didn’t already know) and to spark conversations between members and to inspire new ideas for work. And it is a great opportunity for members to come together and share a glass of wine and some food.
Free (members only) event – simply BYO your favourite beer or wine and a bite to share.
