Mike has been an Auckland potter and member of the ASP for many years. He was also involved extensively with the strong pottery group that used to meet at Mt Roskill Grammar, but when that closed down he directed his energy and time to the ASP. That has meant that, particularly over the last 4 years or so, he has been working at the Centre on an almost full-time basis. He's on the Committee and when he is in action a lot gets done. He is an enthusiastic problem-solver, gadget-designer and worker-outer. He makes pots at home using his own studio and equipment, but is a real enthusiast for the special kilns we have at the Centre - wood, salt, anagama. So if there is a tweak needed on a kiln, or a refinement to the mickey-mouse firing systems we are famous for, Mike tucks himself in the new workshop (which he and Tony built) and an hour or two later comes out with just the goods to solve the problem. Well deserved.
