| Since 1973 I have worked with clay in many forms. I have often needed help with these varied techniques and the ASP has been a huge part of solving pottery problems, whether I needed to build an experimental kiln or just chew the fat around the table with other experienced potters – it’s a great place to head to when there’s a new brainwave to follow up. | I am in my last year of the Ceramics Diploma programme, still a thrower of pots, but hopefully a more competent and creative one than when I started! One day I may break out and make something non-functional… I came to NZ in 1995, and my involvement with ASP has always been one of the very best aspects of my life here. |

I came to ceramics fairly late, in the last two and a half years really. I found that I could bring a part of my thoughts to life through forming clay. It is such a fantastic medium that allows me to take from it what ever I want. In my short involvement with ASP I have quickly come to learn that it is a welcoming community with literally hundreds of years of experience and ideas to help all newcomers and old hands alike in the pursuit of creating that perfect pot. I am in my first year of the Diploma in Ceramic Art and thanks to very patient business partners and a self proclaimed "Clay Widow" I am enjoying my new found obsession. |
I was “asked” to take a school clay class – after lesson three it became very evident I knew nothing and some urgent cramming was needed. At the ASP, two excellent teachers, Margaret Sumich and Renton Murray, gave me what I needed to cope with following 4 years of “clay classes”. For me the cheapest therapy in town and the love affair has never ended. |

I've been mucking around with and making a living from clay since 1987. During that time the ASP has always been there. I have rejoined the committee at this time because I think the ASP is entering another interesting phase of change and growth. Life begins at 50 (my age, coincidentally.) |

I was lucky to have two years off after wonderfully long time working in broadcasting. This left me at a bit of a loose end until a potter friend mentioned during a summer lunch I should have a play with clay. I started a beginner’s class 3 years ago and never seem to have left the ASP studio. I am currently completing my final year in the Diploma of Ceramic Art and can’t wait to start my consolidating year next year and put what I have learnt into practice in such a vibrant studio environment full of wonderful people. |

I discovered pottery 6 years ago and found I enjoyed pottery and potters. I hope one day to make a piece that comes out exactly as planned, am still living in hope and thankfully not holding my breath. |

I first joined the ASP in 1978 and have potted on and off over the years. Initially I purchased Jeff Scholes’s pottery at Te Henga where he fired a wonderful wood fired kiln built by Warren Tippett. I currently work as a school counsellor in West Auckland and collect pottery. |

I've been attending classes at ASP on and off for the past ten years and recently completed the Diploma of Ceramic Arts. I get quite obsessive about clay, I just love it. You will often see me around the studio with my dog Roxy, who has been sneaking into classes for her entire life. |

I have been potting for 9 years, and joined the ASP about 5 years ago. I am doing the Diploma in Ceramics part-time, as well as continuing to develop my work independently. I have 3 children and a very tolerant husband. |

Hopefully the skills I gleaned from my various careers will come in useful to ASP - I really believe that 96 Captain Springs Rd is a very special and valuable place for hundreds of people, and I'd like to help out so that it can continue to work and play well into the future. I'm currently in my final year of the Visual Arts Degree (Ceramics) at Unitec. |
