The ASP administers two sponsored awards
The Auckland Studio Potters Domestic Ware Award

This is an annual competition to promote and reward excellence in the creation of high-quality domestic ware in clay.
Entry is open to any financial member of the ASP, including students.
The work must be fully functional domestic ware, including (but not limited to) cooking vessels, tableware, bowls, vases, storage vessels.
2012 Award
In 2012 the award exhibition was held outside the ASP Centre for the first time. The Mt Eden Village Centre proved to be a fine venue for an event that has become a significant part of the ASP activities. This was confirmed by the very high qauality of the entries, including work from well-known potters such as Chester Nealie, Rick Rudd and Andrew van der Putten. This year's judge was Julie Collis, who gave a warm and interesting talk about her selections. Congratulations and thanks to all who helped with this event and who won awards.

The Les and Sonia Andrews Cultural Foundation Award
Sonia and Les Andrews are veterans of stage and radio in New Zealand. They have had a life-long association with music and entertainment in this country, and are a much respected couple by all in that industry. They contributed hugely while working in the field and have continued that in their retirement with the establishment of the Les and Sonia Andrews Cultural Foundation.
For some years they have provided scholarships for the New Zealand School of Music and in 2003 concluded an arrangement with Auckland Studio Potters to provide a generous Annual Scholarship. It goes to an emerging potter of promise. Since that time the Executive has had a small committee which selects a student each year to receive the Les and Sonia Andrews award which is presented by them at the Big Clay Day Out in December. The grant of $2,000 is provided to help the successful person develop their career in ceramics.
The award for 2012 went to Ann O'Sullivan.
Ann O'Sullivan
I joined Auckland Studio Potters seven years ago, when I returned to New Zealand after living overseas. The excellent tutors, sense of community and like-minded people have helped me develop my passion for all things ceramic. I prefer to work in porcelain, due to its fragile yet strong properties and the colours it develops in vapour firings. Most of my work is functional - or useful, as I like to call it.
I started Corellis Cafe in 2010, and it has been a platform for me to bring ceramics to the masses, by holding regular exhibitions and plate nights, and aiming to serve food in handmade pottery dishes.
Thank you so much to Les and Sonia for their generous support to so many people over the years.
